Cochrane – Business growth shows positive signs for economy

Alliance Finance and Personnel spokesperson Judith Cochrane MLA has welcomed further positive signs of growth in the Northern Ireland economy. The Purchasing Managers’ Index has revealed that business growth is at its fastest rate since 2004. November was also the fifth consecutive month of growth.

Judith Cochrane MLA said: “After a series of jobs announcements in recent months, this news of how much our business sector is growing is a further positive sign for our economy.

“We still have a lot of work to carry out to complete our recovery to the economic downturn, however by being able to say that our economy is growing at such a fast rate should encourage further investment.

“We have seen that there is a lot of international interest in the Northern Ireland economy following the successful G8 summit in June and the recent International Investment Conference. It is now imperative that we build on this interest and turn it into further jobs and contracts.”
