Stewart Dickson MLA said: “Mike Nesbitt has tried to be everything to everybody but has failed to provide any sort of identity for the UUP. In his first six months as leader, Mike has not been able to achieve anything to change the downward spiral that the UUP have found themselves in.
“He tries to claim that he has made the UUP modern and progressive, but he continues to evoke the ghost of Carson and Craig at every turn. Even Peter Robinson loves to point out that there is next to no difference between the policies of the DUP and UUP.
“Mike is obviously concerned at a recent poll that shows that the Alliance Party is clearly ahead of the UUP. He is struggling to define the purpose of the UUP to the public.”
