Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “This vile act of vandalism is absolutely contemptible. People are appalled at thugs who try to create tensions where good relations exist.
“Newtownards is a friendly place and it is despicable that individuals have put us in the news for all the wrong reasons.
“People in the town will be shocked at this disgusting incident. Anyone who has any information has a duty to contact police immediately so that those responsible can be apprehended.”
