McCarthy – Length of waiting list for outpatient operations is unacceptable

Alliance Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has criticised the Health Minister for failing to act on waiting list for outpatient operations. Over 54,000 people have been waiting more than 9 weeks for an outpatient operation despite the Ministerial target for there to be no person on the list for more than that period.

Kieran McCarthy said: “This is extremely worrying news that such a large amount of people are having to wait such a long period of time for an outpatient operation. This is completely unacceptable.

“I would like to see the Health Minister engaging more with the problems in his Department and deal with long waiting lists rather than getting involved in spats with Executive Ministers.”
