Lunn frustrated at failure on Education and Skills Authority debate

Alliance Education Spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has expressed annoyance that the Stormont Executive is preventing the Education and Skills Authority legislation from being debated at the Assembly today.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “This is yet another failure on the part of the Stormont Executive. The ESA bill is extremely important for the future of our education system. One can only speculate as to why this legislation has not come forward.

“This bill cannot now come to the Assembly until 3 November and the ESA commencement date is meant to be 1st January. Staff on current boards are doing great work but this inconsistency and change in relation to when ESA legislation will be passed is deeply destabilising.

“Public confidence in the Executive is already low and this will have damaged it further.”
