Naomi Long stated: “The outgoing Chief Constable was quite right in venting his frustration at our Executive for failing to deliver on a shared future and it is a frustration shared by many.
“The police are often called upon to be in the frontline in dealing with the violent consequences of our divisions. While they can manage the consequences of divisions, it is often at great cost, and they need the devolved Executive to actually address the underlying divisions and support, both with policy and resources, the building of a shared future.
“There is little point in either the DUP or Sinn Fein speaking out on the evils of sectarianism and racism if they are not prepared to follow through with a clear vision for a shared society, a strategy for achieving it, and the policies to deliver.
“Having stalled for well over a year on even publishing a draft strategy for Cohesion, Sharing and Integration, the credibility of the Executive on this issue is in tatters.”
