Work to combat drink-driving is paying off

Chair of Carrickfergus District Policing Partnership, Cllr Stewart Dickson has hailed news of a significant drop in the number of people caught drink-driving over Christmas. The number of people who were caught fell 13% from last Christmas to 414 drivers testing positive this festive season.

Alliance Party Councillor Stewart Dickson said: “I would like to congratulate the PSNI on their diligence and persistence on this extremely important issue. I would also like to praise those involved in the advertising campaign against drink-driving on its genuine success.

“The message is clearly getting through. Everyone knows they should never drink and drive, and people know they will be caught if they do.”
