Cllr Billy Webb said: “This was an absolutely appalling incident. My thoughts are with the two police officers who were in the car when this happened.
“I am sickened that someone could do something like this. The police should be able to go about their important everyday work without having to face incidents like this.
“The community is very shocked at this reckless and dangerous act and I would call on anyone who has any information on this to contact police immediately.”
