Cllr Catherine Curran said: “I am absolutely appalled that anyone could stoop so low as to vandalise a memorial to those who died serving their country. This was a despicable act of vandalism and the community is shocked that anyone would do such a thing.
“To have a shared future for all it is vital that there is respect and responsible behaviour.
“I would appeal to anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately as those behind this must be brought to justice.”
