Alliance South Belfast MLA Paula Bradshaw has said that today’s traffic collision on the Ormeau Road shows there is a need for an urgent review of traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the area.
Ms Bradshaw stated: “The Ormeau/Ravenhill Road area is now ever expanding as so many people understandably choose it as a place to live and work.
“However, the consequent traffic situation has moved from intolerable to outright dangerous as the area has grown. It is becoming a hindrance to people going about their daily lives and today we saw an example of how it has become a clear safety issue, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists.
“I would wish to see an urgent review of traffic flow and safety measures in the area, combined with a decision on how public transport can be used more effectively along the whole corridor from the city centre to Forestside and Cairnshill.
“I pass my well wishes to those affected by today’s collision for a swift recovery.”
