Alliance Leader Naomi Long has condemned those behind the shooting of a police officer in North Belfast.
Naomi Long said: “Whoever was behind this attack on the police officer intended to kill. Using guns in a residential area shows a callous disregard for the entire community and should be condemned without reservation.
“Those involved in planning and carrying out this misguided attack should see the futility of their actions. They go against the democratic principles that the vast majority of people in this society support.
“The police have an important role safeguarding the community and deserve full support in carrying out this role. I offer my thoughts and prayers for the officer’s speedy and full recovery.
