Kieran McCarthy said: “The SDLP had the chance to deliver when they were running the last Executive with the UUP and they failed to do so. We saw powersharing collapse, and no further progress was made.
“The SDLP did not deliver free personal care for older people and they did not deliver on creating a shared future, so how can we expect them to deliver on these vital issues this time around.
“Everyone is saying that this election is about delivery, and if that is the case we need to look at the record of the SDLP. They did not deliver when in power, so how can anyone expect them to deliver progress after this election.
“The SDLP and Ulster Unionists have had their chance to make power-sharing work and they failed to do so. I cannot see how the public would even consider giving them a second chance.”
