Dr Stephen Farry MLA stated: “I am deeply saddened at the passing of Sir John Hermon. Jack was a true and dedicated servant of the people of Northern Ireland, and through his strong and professional leadership of the RUC, he helped to bring our society through one of the difficult phases in its history.
“I would express the deepest sympathies of my constituents and the Alliance Party to Lady Herman and her family. The whole community in North Down will want to stand shoulder to shoulder with Lady Herman at this difficult time.”
