Poll shows that people think tribal parties will not deliver

Alliance Deputy Leader Naomi Long has claimed that a poll published by the Belfast Telegraph today shows that people are not confident that the tribal parties will deliver devolution. The poll revealed that only 12% of respondents said that it was very likely that devolution will return following this election.

The East Belfast Alliance candidate said: “This poll shows that people do not believe that the tribal can deliver genuine power-sharing. It illustrates the fact that that people do not have any confidence in tribal politics. Alliance is the only alternative to the failed politics of tribalism.

“Local people are responding to the work carried out by Alliance on bread and butter issues. The Ulster Unionists and SDLP have had their chance to deliver in the last Executive, and failed miserably. The DUP won’t even talk to Sinn Fein, so people do not have any confidence in them either. Only Alliance will deliver progress and real improvements in local services.

“The only way we can have a strong Alliance team at the centre of government is by getting everyone who wants a shared future out and voting Alliance on 7th March. You can make a real difference.”
