People don’t want a fudge on the Maze stadium

Alliance Culture, Arts and Leisure Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has stated that people do not want a fudge in the Maze stadium decision. He said that Maze is currently the only show in town and that local people deserved the chance to have a world-class shared stadium. His comments come as it was announced that a decision would be made on the Maze stadium bid by the end of the month.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “People do not want a fudge on the Maze stadium, they want a world class all-sports stadium. A decision on the stadium should have been taken a long time ago and people are frustrated with the length of time the process is taking.

“The Executive often finds it too easy to settle for second best. We will not settle for anything other than an all-sports stadium that is a genuine shared space. I sincerely hope that Northern Ireland moves forward with a facility that has the capacity to attract big sports tournaments and gigs. Maze ticks all these boxes and is the only show in town at the moment.”
