Mr Dickson was speaking after it was revealed Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams had received a death threat, reported to be from a loyalist group.
Stewart Dickson MLA said: “While the comments made last week by Gerry Adams are unjustifiable, intimidation is never the answer.
“We live in a democratic society and no political leader should face the threat of death for his or her political background and beliefs.
“Events of the past week have again demonstrated why Northern Ireland needs a shared future, where all cultures and traditions are respected and tolerated.”
