Sean Neeson MLA said: “The Stormont Executive is failing local people because at the same as they are failing to meet, energy bills are sky-rocketing. There can be no more excuses for their inaction on tackling the energy crisis.
“Radical vision is needed to alleviate these devastating problems. Long-term planning is essential because these increased energy bills appear to be here for a long time.
“Northern Ireland Electricity and Phoneix Gas are both monopolies in many areas and this is very damaging to household consumers. It simply won’t wash with the public for the Executive parties to blame pressures beyond their control and continue to do nothing.
“Creating a stronger strategy to increase the use of renewable energy systems and making the all-island electricity market work better can be done by the Executive, so its time for them to get back to work. This is one of the biggest challenges facing the Executive parties. At the minute they are failing and the public will not forgive them if they do not tackle this crisis.”
