ALLIANCE Assembly member for South Antrim David Ford MLA has welcomed the opening of a bus lane onto the M2 at Sandyknowes roundabout this week.
Mr Ford stated:
“I welcome this new bus lane as a welcome addition in the battle against car congestion on our roads. It will benefit the people of Newtownabbey, as it encourages people out of their cars and onto public transport.
“We all know only too well the problems surrounding traffic jams at Sandyknowes roundabout every working morning, and I believe that we still need another bus lane on the approach from Templepatrick, where congestion can stretch for a mile.
“Such a lane would benefit the Airbus from Templepatrick as well as Express bus services from Antrim, Ballyclare and Ballymena.
“This will be much cheaper than putting another lane on the M2.”
