Neeson welcomes job rise figures, but says more high-value ones needed

Alliance Economy Spokesperson Séan Neeson has welcomed news that the employment rates in Northern Ireland has increased, but he said that the Executive must focus on providing more high-value jobs locally. His comments follow today’s announcement of the new figures within the Quarterly Employment Survey, which indicated that there was an increase of 2,020 in the last quarter.

The East Antrim Assembly Member said: “This is good news, but it is essential that Executive focuses on providing more high-value jobs which match our good local skill-base.

“High-value jobs are extremely important, because this type of employment is necessary to deliver the sustainable growth we need in our economy.

“Strong development of our private sector is essential, and to do this we must effectively attract foreign investment and also help boost to our small and medium-sized enterprises.”
