Sean Neeson MLA said: “This will be a very welcome relief for many families who were hit hard last year by the high cost of energy. Many households are still feeling the effects of the economic downturn and a price freeze will be a great help to them. But this is only one aspect of reducing fuel poverty and more needs to be done to eradicate if forever.
“This price freeze should just be the start of reforms to our energy sector in Northern Ireland, more work needs to be done to bring our fuel prices down to UK levels.
“The high electricity prices have also affected the business sector and the prospect of paying a higher bill this winter could have seriously damaged the sustainability of several businesses.”
