Neeson sadness at closure of electrics firm

Alliance Enterprise Spokesperson Seán Neeson MLA has expressed sadness at news that the electrical firm Meteor is closing its operation in Cookstown at the cost of 70 jobs.

Seán Neeson MLA said: “This is a sad day for Cookstown. Meteor has been a major employer in the town for a long time.

“This closure is yet another sorry reminder of the impact that the global economic downturn and the decrease in construction activity is having on local businesses. I feel for the workers and families who have been affected by this closure and I call upon the relevant Stormont Ministers to put measures in place to assist those losing their jobs to find new employment.”
