Seán Neeson MLA said: “I taught in the school for fourteen years and I am well aware of the dedication of staff and pupils. It is proposed that pupils from St Comgall’s should be taken by bus fifteen miles up the coast to St MacNissi’s College at Garron Tower.
“Already there is a sharing of resources between St Comgall’s College and Larne College, and this has greatly helped community relations in the area.
“I believe that it is totally outrageous to bring these closure proposals forward at this time, bearing in mind the impending changes in post-primary education in Northern Ireland.”
