Naomi Long officially hands over to new Assembly Member Chris Lyttle

Chris Lyttle has today signed in at Stormont as new Assembly Member for East Belfast, replacing recently elected MP Naomi Long in the role.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “It is a great privilege to get the opportunity to represent the people of East Belfast and I am very proud to be following in the footsteps of Naomi Long.

“Naomi is one of the most popular and most effective politicians, and if I can in any way emulate her achievements I will be very pleased. Naomi’s success is built around the high level of constituency work she carries out and I aim to continue this excellent work.”

Naomi Long MP said: “Chris is an energetic and hard-working campaigner who will be a brilliant Assembly Member. He has worked with me for a number of years and has consistently delivered for the people of East Belfast in constituency casework. He represents the politics of the future and I know he will do a great job for everyone in the area. We need to see more people like Chris getting into politics and I am confident that he will help to inspire a new generation of young people to get involved.”
