Muir welcomes police action against human trafficking in Bangor

Alliance North Down Councillor Andrew Muir has welcomed the actions of the Police in rescuing three women from a house in Bangor who may have been trafficked into the country. Two men have been arrested.

Cllr Andrew Muir said: “Human trafficking is a heinous and dreadful crime that is taking place on the streets of Northern Ireland. I welcome the actions of the Police to rescue these three women and to give them the support and care they require.

“Increasing public awareness of human trafficking is vital if we are to put an end to this form of modern day slavery. I commend the Justice Minister, who along with other agencies, has taken part in several high profile campaigns to encourage people to be vigilant for this terrible crime.

“I would urge the public to ring the police and report any suspicious activity that they may believe is linked to human trafficking.”
