Much progress still needed on broadband here

Alliance Enterprise Spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has said that improving broadband in Northern Ireland must be a key aim to help businesses and grow our economy. His comments come after an Ofcom report revealed that Belfast internet users can expect a much faster speed than those in Down or Fermanagh.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “Fast internet speeds are vital for business and consumers across Northern Ireland. I would like to see an enhanced service for people in areas where access is slower because speed is crucial when it comes to technology so that businesses have the infrastructure necessary to work as quickly as possible.

“Broadband has become a key requirement for many businesses and I know that progress has been made on the issue but we must continue to be ambitious and continue to strive for an even better level of broadband service.

“These are very tough times as regards the economy and government needs to be responsive and must do everything possible to try and ensure that the infrastructure is in place to enable businesses to work to their capacity.”
