East Belfast Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle said: “There are many people in East Belfast in significant housing stress and I am glad to get directly involved with Habitat for Humanity to help alleviate this problem.
“Shared and affordable social housing provision is vital to delivering a more united and prosperous Northern Ireland .
“I would strongly encourage everyone, from young people right through to people who are retired, to get involved in volunteer work. It helps society and it helps them too in providing valuable life experiences. Volunteering and active citizenship binds communities together and I hope the Madrid Street building project will be a good example of this in action.”
