ALLIANCE’S Strangford representative Kieran McCarthy has condemned the illegal killing of badgers in his constituency and broadcast by UTV tonight.
Mr McCarthy said: “Recently, I condemned all bloodsports, as I believe it is totally inhuman to condemn animals to a painful death merely for entertainment.
“This attack filmed by UTV in my constituency was absolutely horrendous. For grown men to get pleasure from a dog tearing a badger to pieces is simply inhuman. This is an illegal activity, morally wrong and could not be described as sport in any way. The barbarity of the practice needs to be highlighted and action taken.
“I would urge anyone who knows anything about this activity to report it to the PSNI immediately, or inform my constituency office. It is time to end illegal hunting in Northern Ireland once and for all.”
