Alliance Health spokesperson Paula Bradshaw MLA has welcomed a suspension of mesh implants in England, to last until at least March.
The South Belfast MLA stated: “I have been campaigning on the issue of mesh implants for some time and have long been convinced suspension of mesh implants is the right step.
“The decision in England to stop mesh implants in almost all cases for at least nine months must be matched immediately in Northern Ireland. Too many serious question marks have arisen concerning the procedure and side effects, some of which have been harrowing.
“I am in regular contact with the Department of Health and look forward to an early indication it will be at least matching the decision made in England for suspension.”
