Alliance East Belfast Councillor Peter McReynolds has congratulated Glentoran after the club received a prestigious award for volunteers.
The Glens were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the work around 200 volunteers undertake throughout the club week-in and week-out.
This award is open to groups across the UK and is the equivalent to receiving an MBE for volunteers,” said Councillor McReynolds.
“The club have gone through a rigorous and thorough process to be awarded it, so it is a tribute to the ethos of the club that they were successful.
“Glentoran truly are a club at the heart of East Belfast, sharing Alliance’s passion for cross-community work and celebrating diversity.
“This could not have been achieved without the hard work and commitment of the volunteers, who give their free time to make Glentoran the club it is. They richly deserve the praise for this achievement.”
