Alliance Holywood and Clandeboye Councillor Martin McRandal has hit out at robbers who tied up a man before stealing a safe from his property.

The incident took place in Church Green in Holywood this morning (Saturday). Shortly after 7am, two males entered a house in the area and tied up the male occupant. He managed to break free and chased the intruders from the property as they attempted to tie up the female occupant. It is believed they escaped with a safe containing jewellery.

“My thoughts are with the man and women who went through this terrible ordeal,” said Councillor McRandal.

“Thankfully, although left shaken by the incident, they were not seriously injured. I hope they receive whatever help they need to recover from this experience. I utterly condemn the two males who carried it out and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the two robbers escaping or has any information at all, to contact police with it.”
