Alliance Party Dunmurry Cross candidate Aaron McIntyre has expressed his sadness at the decision of the Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, to go ahead with the closure Derriaghy Primary School.
Aaron McIntyre said “It is with great sadness that I heard the news about the closure of Derriaghy Primary School. The school has been at the heart of the local community for over one hundred years and at least two generations of my family have attended the school. Its services will be missed.
“I wish to acknowledge all the work that went into the campaign to keep the school open, but unfortunately the minister has made her decision despite the opposition.
“For those pupils that are moving to new schools, I wish them all the best and if any parent is having difficulty finding a school place for their child to get in contact with me on 07707936559 and I will do my best to assist them.”
