McGrellis – shots fired at Derry police was attempted murder

Alliance Foyle representative Keith McGrellis has described shots that were fired at police in Derry on Wednesday night as attempted murder. A number of officers were responding to a stolen vehicle when shots were fired in their direction, no one was hurt.

Keith McGrellis said: “These police officers were just doing their job, to protect and serve our community. They are there to ensure that we are able to go about our daily lives.

“This was clearly attempted murder. If you fire a gun at anybody, you are trying to kill them.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this shooting to contact the police. The people behind it must be apprehended by the police before somebody is killed.”
