McDonough-Brown says racist graffiti has no place in society

Alliance South Belfast Councillor Emmet McDonough-Brown has said racist graffiti has no place in our society after a racist slogan appeared in the area.

The racist graffiti was daubed on a home in Blythe Street in Sandy Row. Councillor McDonough-Brown has contacted Belfast City Council to seek its removal immediately.

“South Belfast is welcoming to people from all around the world, so it is especially frustrating and maddening to see such disgusting graffiti appear here,” he said.

“Everyone must unite to fight such pathetic views. This type of behaviour is not acceptable and must be stamped out. I know the vast majority of people in the area will be as appalled by this as I am.

“It adds further weight to the urgent calls for a Racial Equality Strategy from OFMDFM and I would urge anyone with information on the culprit to contact police immediately.”
