McCarthy welcomes Poots U-turn over care homes

Alliance Health spokesperson, Kieran McCarthy MLA, has welcomed the U-turn from the Health Minister who has decided to save all the 18 care homes that were at risk from closure.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “I am delighted that Edwin Poots has performed a U-turn after the public outrage at the proposal to close these care homes.

“This whole issue has been very poorly managed by the authorities. It has caused unnecessary distress and fear for residents and their families.

“The Minister must provide clarity over the decision to keep these care homes open, a lot of people will be angry if this turns out to be just an election stunt.”
