McCarthy supports retention of free public transport for older people

Alliance Regional Development spokesperson, Kieran McCarthy MLA, has said he fully supports the free public transport for older people. He was commenting after the Regional Development Minister indicating that the scheme may be under threat.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “I remain fully supportive of free public transport for the older people. I would be very disappointed if funding for this scheme was to end.

“The Minister has previously given me a commitment in the Assembly that free public transport for older people would continue, so I hope he will honour that pledge.

“This scheme is vital for the well-being of our elderly citizens, so I would encourage the Minister for fight for this scheme to continue to be funded.”
