McCarthy says politicians must stand together to tackle terrorism

Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA has said it is essential that politicians stand together to tackle terrorism. His comments come after a series of incidents in the past number of days which have seen a bomb outside Strand Road police station in Derry, a bomb find in Bangor and most recently a viable device being found outside the home of a police officer in Kilkeel.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “Politicians in Northern Ireland must stand shoulder to shoulder to tackle terrorism and prevent those seeking to cause instability from doing so.

“The bomb find in Kilkeel is sickening and the despicable events of the past week must not be allowed to affect the progress Northern Ireland has made in building peace. It is appalling that those who serve the whole community are being targeted.

“Those involved in these disgusting actions must realise that they will not succeed. Anyone who can help police with their investigation into this bomb find in Kilkeel or any other incidents should contact them immediately.”
