Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “Here we have yet another hospital horror story. The Minister must make a statement urgently on how he intends to improve conditions in this hospital.
“This report raises massive questions that need to be answered quickly.
“The people of Northern Ireland need to see that the Minister is actually making progress on improving hygiene in our hospitals.
“I welcome the important work of the four independent councils. It is essential that Northern Ireland has health watchdogs that can walk into hospitals and do spot checks without warning. We need such bodies in order to safeguard patient safety.
“It is essential that public confidence can be maintained in our health services because they are one of the key pillars of our society.”
