Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “It is essential that we examine further possibilities for North-South sharing of health services.
“These are difficult times for our health service and it is important that we are able to make the most of public money. Cross-border sharing could help us protect vital services at this time of financial pressure.
“The planned radiotherapy unit at Altnagelvin Hospital is a very positive step and it points the way forward on cross-border sharing of services.
“We need to examine radical and creative ways of delivering top-class health services whilst delivering the best possible value for money. Sharing services could help us maintain key frontline services and deliver as much as possible for the resources we have.”
