McCarthy offers sympathies following death of young woman in Derry

Alliance Strangford MLA, Kieran McCarthy, has offered his sympathies to the family of a young woman who died in Derry on Thursday morning. The 19 year old was from Portaferry. Her body was discovered at 2:30am at a flat in the Creggan area. A 21 year old man has been arrested.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “I was very saddened to hear of the death of this young woman. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to her family and friends. This is a tragedy for all who knew her.

“Her family is well known throughout the Ards Peninsula. Her death has left the local community in deep shock.

“I would urge anybody who may be able to assist the Police in their investigations to contact them or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
