McCarthy leads charge to protect ‘home help’ services

Alliance Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has today pushed the Health Minister to provide adequate home help services. Mr McCarthy is leading the campaign to save home help services and he proposed a motion in the Assembly on the issue today.

Kieran McCarthy MLA stated: “I brought this motion to the Assembly today to ensure people get a fair deal on their home help services.

“The point of the motion was to spark the Minster into action and get him to protect these essential services. What sort of country are we if we cannot look after our older people and people with disabilities? There can be no excuse for failing to provide adequate support for people.

“We sent out a very strong message during today’s debate. The Minister knows how we feel about any cuts to home help, and I hope the stand that we took in the Assembly will prevent any further reduction in this service.”
