McCarthy hopes Multiple Sclerosis Society will continue its excellent work

Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy has said he hopes that the Multiple Sclerosis Society will continue to provide the excellent service that it has done down the years. He stated that he led the way in securing two million pounds of funding from the then Minister Shaun Woodward to assist people with Multiple Sclerosis in Northern Ireland. His comments come after it emerged that the charity suspended its Northern Ireland Council for allegedly failing to co-operate with the national ruling body.

Ald Kieran McCarthy said: “I was a member of the all-party group that worked to assist the Multiple Sclerosis Society in the Assembly and I hope that the organisation will continue to fulfil its vital role in Northern Ireland.

“I led the way in arranging a meeting with the Minister and led the way in the campaign which secured two million pounds of funding from Shaun Woodward, to assist people with Multiple Sclerosis in Northern Ireland.

“The Multiple Sclerosis Society is an excellent organisation and we worked extremely well with all the officers.

“I hope this situation can be resolved in a satisfactory manner as soon as possible.

“My experience with the organisation has been massively positive and they play a vital role in supporting people with Multiple Sclerosis in Northern Ireland.”
