McCarthy condemns racist attacks

ALLIANCE Assembly member for Strangford, Alderman Kieran McCarthy, has condemned an attack on members of the Turkish and Indian communities living in Comber.

Mr McCarthy stated:

“Gone are the days when racist attacks were something associated with Belfast. They are now happening all across Northern Ireland, and sadly people in Comber have now been targeted.

“These attacks are not acceptable. What is concerning is the orchestrated nature of the incidents, as they seem to have been carried out by the same people.

“Comber is a small town, and this kind of intimidation is not welcome. Minority ethnic communities are made welcome in Comber by the vast majority of the residents and I would encourage anyone with information about these attacks to contact the PSNI.”
