McCarthy concern over hip fracture figures

Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has expressed real concerns over some figures regarding the treatment of hip fractures and said that potential cuts could make it difficult to improve this situation. His comments come following the release of figures from an audit by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “Some of these figures are deeply worrying. Governments need to be looking to improve how this matter is dealt with and I am deeply concerned that potential budget cuts could have a negative impact on this aspect of treatment.

“Government needs to ensure this issue is addressed and must ensure that potential budgetary changes do not impact on the important area of frontline service delivery.”
