Kieran McCarthy said: “The fact that only one Strangford ferry will be in operation over Easter is an absolute disgrace. DRD needs to think through the implications of this decision and overturn it immediately. This will have a very negative impact for people living in the area the ferry serves. The Easter period is one of the busiest times for the Strangford area with a large number of tourists coming here to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
“This decision could have a very detrimental impact on tourism and is very strange given the economic circumstances and the need for every effort to be made to boost our economy. I am appealing to DRD to overturn this decision for the sake of people living in the area, for our tourism industry and for our economy.”
