A number of homes in the Rosapenna Street area have been evacuated after a suspicious object, believed to be a suspected pipe bomb, was discovered there. Cliftonville Community Centre has been opened for those affected, with several streets remaining closed.
“This alert caused many local people and businesses a lot of unnecessary disruption, particularly during a busy working day,” said Councillor McAllister.
“The vast majority of people in this community do not want to see these sorts of incidents and they achieve absolutely nothing other than disturbance. The people behind this security alert have also wasted valuable police resources and time.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to contact police immediately.”
