A woman and her young child were at home in the York Road area when a brick was thrown at the front window late on Thursday night.
Councillor McAllister said: “This sort of behaviour is not representative of the majority in North Belfast, who want to see their community remain open, welcoming and inclusive.
“I wholeheartedly condemn those behind this attack, who put the lives of a woman and her young child at risk with their attempts at intimidation.
“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home and as a community we must stand together and refuse to allow this type of behaviour to become the norm on our streets. I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
