Cllr Billy Webb said: “This was a horrific and brutal attack. I hope the man injured in this despicable attack makes a full and swift recovery.
“It is absolutely appalling that someone could do something like this. Those who carry out acts of this nature must be brought to justice and I appeal to anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately.”
