Lyttle welcomes special Police phone line to report racist attacks

Alliance Policing Board member, Chris Lyttle MLA, has welcome the announcement by ACC Will Kerr that the Police will be setting up a special phone line to allow victims and witnesses to report racist attacks. It can be accessed through the PSNI’s new non-emergency phone number 101 from Monday afternoon.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “I am glad to see the Police taking further action to combat these despicable attacks. Victims of hate crime need to have full confidence that they can report incidents to the Police in a safe and confidential manner.

“I would like to express my full support to all the victims of these racist attacks. Northern Ireland must be open and welcoming to people from all backgrounds.

“The small minority of individuals engaged in hate crime need to know the full force of the law will be brought to bear on them.

“Ultimately, this will need a society wide response to say no to all forms of hate.”
