Chris Lyttle MLA said: “I would like to commend the Employment and Learning Minister for the work he is doing to ensure that we have the best possible careers guidance that will help deliver economic growth and ensure that our workforce has the skills set that matches the needs of employers.
“The Minister’s review is based on the inquiry carried out by the Employment and Learning Committee, and I am pleased that the Department has taken on board some of the recommendations that I suggested.
“It is important that all levels of careers guidance across Northern Ireland have a consistent level of high standards to ensure that every person reaches their full potential.
“I am also pleased that the Minister will look to increase the amount of people taking STEM subjects which will be vital to attract international investment. The Department’s engagement with the business sector will help ensure that we are producing the employees that our economy requires.”
