Alliance East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle has visited a local Royal Mail postal depot to see first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post by its staff.
Chris was shown around the Prince Regent Road office by delivery office staff and was introduced to the postmen and women, who will be pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail throughout East Belfast in the busy Christmas period.
“Postal staff are hardworking and dedicated. At no time is that hard work and dedication clearer than during the busy festive period. There is a huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into delivering a first-class Christmas, both here in East Belfast and further afield,” he said.
“It was great to meet the team here at the Prince Regent Road depot and thank them personally for the extraordinary lengths they will go to ensure Christmas parcels and cards are delivered to loved ones on time, as well as thanking them for delivering our mail services all through the year, in all weather.
“The last recommend posting dates for Christmas are December 18 for second-class, December 20 for first-class and December 22 for special delivery, so I would encourage people to post as early as possible to allow the postal staff as much time as possible to do their job in this busy period.”
